smartreel longline reel series Seamech Limited is the only company in the Pacific Islands manufacturing commercial longline fishing reels and equipment. We are very fortunate to be located at a port that has a very productive tuna longline fishing fleet that fishes all the year round. This has enabled us to work closely with the fishermen and understand what is needed and what they require and also enable us to monitor developments in the industry so as to allow us to keep abreast of the industry trends. Seamech Ltd started manufacturing longline reels in 1994 and has continued to do so to the present day. Most of our production however goes to Fiji and geographically associated areas. Seamech has sold reels to clients situated from South Africa to Tahiti in the southern hemisphere, and have reels working in Sicily and Sardinia in Italy. Because of the growing demand for lighter longline equipment for smaller vessels and strong heavy duty equipment for larger vessels Seamech has developed an all aluminium reel called Smart Reel 2 and SmartReel 3 Aluminium Series® Seamech have sourced the highest grade tensile aluminium and have used this with high grade stainless steel to manufacture an extremely strong and hard working series of long line fishing equipment. Seamech Limited is a family owned company based in Suva, Fiji in the South Pacific. Seamech Limited has for years been involved in longline fishing equipment industry as hydraulic engineers, maintaining and installing the equipment manufactured by others. Fiji is one of the world centres of the tuna longline fishing industry. Seamech is fortunate to be located at a port that has a very productive Tuna Long Line Fishing Fleet that fishes all year round. We have spent many years developing our equipment and as a result we are able to provide our customers with cost effective, low maintenance and user friendly equipment that overcomes design features and the operational difficulties evident in the competitors equipment. For years we have repaired competitors long line equipment - now we make better equipment of our own. Because of our unique location and intimate involvement with the operating environment and the equipment we have designed produced and supplied for a number of years our own superior design of long line fishing equipment, SMART REELS.
