in the begining.....
Specifically on the 14th of June 1984 Ross and Marita Brodie registered the company Seamech Limited in Suva, Fiji Islands. Seamech's first workshop was aboard vessel "MV Coromel". With this vessel the Brodie family travelled to Lautoka where Seamech were commissioned by Blue Lagoon Cruises to lay a hurricane mooring for their fleet in Votogo Bay. This mooring had a dead weight of 100 tonne.
From Lautoka, MV Coromel sailed to Nukualofa in Tonga where we built a 36" 600Hp water pump to pump out a boat harbour that was being constructed adjacent to the port of Nukualofa.
Seamech was then commissioned by the New Zealand government and Tokelau Affairs to travel to the Tokelau Islands to remove and repair the majority of parts to rebuild 52 diesel generator sets.
From 1986 to 1989 Mr. Ross Brodie/Seamech managed the CATD Centre in Nadave. During this period, the Centre was involved with projects on rural Electrification and Mr. Brodie attained a good understanding of the requirements and difficulties faced with the installation, operation and maintenance of generators sets in remote villages.
When the contract with the CATD Centre was completed, Seamech set up it's first land-based workshop in Lami and later moved to Walu Bay in 1994. In 1996 Seamech purchased the property where we are currently operates from and managed by Ross Brodie and son Shayne Brodie.
